Hello friends and families,
Welcome back! Today was another big day out for us as we headed to the North Yorkshire Water Park, a brand new addition to the programme this year. We were all really excited to see what it had to offer.
The water park is just outside Scarborough, on England’s northeast coast. We weren’t really sure what to expect as we drove through the woods to get there, but when we finally arrived we were greeted by huge lakes and what seemed like endless activities. It definitely made a good first impression. Our instructors led us back into the woods to start the day with some laser tag, before moving on to archery. That turned out to be much more successful than any of us expected, with plenty of bullseyes along the way. After a well-earned lunch on what has easily been the sunniest day since we arrived, it was finally time to get out on the water.
The students could choose between a giant five person pedal boat, a two person kayak or a single kayak, so everyone picked whichever sounded the most fun. Then it was time to get out onto the lake and enjoy the afternoon. A few people even decided to capsize on purpose just to experience the water a little more closely I can only assume. Getting soaked and having fun was the name of the game after all.
After that we had a safety briefing before moving on to what everyone had been waiting for: the giant inflatable obstacle course on the lake. There were huge slides, climbing walls and some very high jumps, definitely enough to get the adrenaline going. Everything was fully supervised, everyone was wearing the correct safety equipment and, most importantly, everybody had an amazing time. After another brilliant day, we headed back to Ampleforth for dinner, where tonight’s menu was fajitas.
This evening we’re putting the finishing touches on our lip dub, which you’ll be able to see very soon once we’ve filmed it, edited it and uploaded it to YouTube. After that we’ve got a game of musical bingo planned. The evening has only just begun, but at the risk of forgetting to write the blog again, I thought I’d get this posted now. If I miss any photos tonight, I’ll make sure to add them tomorrow.

Bienvenidos de nuevo! Hoy nos tocaba otra de las grandes excursiones del campamento: el North Yorkshire Water Park, una incorporación completamente nueva al programa de este año. Teníamos muchísimas ganas de descubrir qué nos esperaba allí.
El parque está muy cerca de Scarborough, en la costa noreste de Inglaterra. La verdad es que no sabíamos muy bien qué esperar mientras atravesábamos el bosque para llegar, pero en cuanto aparecieron los lagos y vimos todo lo que había preparado, supimos que prometía. Nuestros monitores nos llevaron de nuevo al bosque para empezar el día con una partida de láser tag y, después, nos tocó probar la puntería con el tiro con arco. La verdad es que hubo muchos más plenos de los que cualquiera habría imaginado.
Después de comer, en el que ha sido sin duda el día más soleado desde que llegamos, por fin llegó el momento de meternos en el agua. Los alumnos podían elegir entre un hidropedal gigante para cinco personas, un kayak doble o un kayak individual, así que cada uno escogió la opción que más le apetecía. Después solo quedaba salir al lago y disfrutar de la tarde. Algunos incluso decidieron volcar el kayak a propósito, quiero pensar que para vivir la experiencia al completo. Al fin y al cabo, hoy la idea era mojarse y pasarlo bien. Después tuvimos una charla de seguridad antes de pasar a lo que todos estaban esperando: el enorme circuito hinchable sobre el agua. Había toboganes gigantes, zonas para trepar y saltos bastante altos, suficientes para subir un poco la adrenalina. Eso sí, todo estuvo completamente supervisado, con el equipo de seguridad correspondiente, y lo más importante es que todo el mundo se lo pasó en grande. Después de otro día fantástico volvimos a Ampleforth para cenar, y esta noche tocaban fajitas.
Esta noche estamos dando los últimos retoques a nuestro lip dub, que podréis ver muy pronto cuando lo grabemos, lo editemos y lo subamos a YouTube. Después nos espera una partida de bingo musical. La actividad de la noche acaba de empezar, pero, para no correr el riesgo de volver a olvidarnos del blog, hemos preferido dejarlo publicado ya. Si esta noche se nos queda alguna foto en el tintero, la subiremos mañana.
