Hello friends and families,
Well, it’s with a heavy heart that I say the big day finally arrived. Yesterday was our last full day together. Some of the students have been with us since the very start of the month, so for sure going back to normal civilian life won’t be easy. Don’t be surprised if you find yourselves negotiating over having dinner at 7 p.m. for the next few days, but that’s just one of the side effects of spending so much time in Britain, it’ll wear off. From the moment we woke up, it felt like we could see the time flying by us, so of course we tried to make the most of every minute left together. While one group was in their final English class, the other finally got the chance to spend some time in one of the college’s fantastic games rooms. It was a room we hadn’t had access to yet, and also the perfect place to relax together, with air hockey, table football and plenty of space to hang out before the one and only big challenge of the day: packing their suitcases. Somehow it always takes longer than it should, but it’s undoubtedly the most important activity of all the ones we do here. After all, we couldn’t risk leaving without our Haribos and Whitby souvenirs. Meanwhile, the students in class also had the chance to visit the famous Ampleforth Abbey, one of the best-known landmarks in this part of Northern England, which was a lovely way to round off their final lesson.

Throughout the day we kept hearing the same comments: «This is our last breakfast», «our last lunch», «our last dinner». Every little moment suddenly felt special because everyone knew our time together was coming to an end. It was a little sad, but also really lovely to see just how much these past days have meant to everyone.
Then it was finally time for our farewell disco. We put together a buffet of snacks and drinks so everyone could dance, relax, write messages to each other and simply enjoy their final evening together. The letter writing was especially popular this year. The students have written some fantastic pieces of English throughout the camp, and it was lovely to see them putting those skills to good use by writing such thoughtful messages to their friends. Right at the end of the evening, we even managed to squeeze in a little bit of impromptu karaoke, which was the perfect way to finish our last night together.

This morning we were all up bright and early before heading off to the airport. I’ve even got a few photos from the journey, and if any more make their way to me, I’ll be sure to add them to the blog as well.
Finally, we’d like to say a huge thank you to:
Adriana, Martina, María M., Naia, Alícia, Maria V., Arlet, Bruna Maria, Aina, Dana, Laia G., Candela, Adrià, Yann, Marc, Bernat, Ivet, Cèlia, Abril, Laia R., Bernat P., Alvaro, and Benjamín. Thank you all for making this camp so special. A summer camp is only a success if everyone makes it a success, and with such amazing and wonderful collaborators it was always destined to be an amazing experience. We hope you’ve had an unforgettable time, made some wonderful friendships and created memories that will stay with you for a long time. We really hope we’ll see many of you again next summer, whether that’s here at Ampleforth or at another Rosa dels Vents camp. A huge thank you as well to you as well, friends and families, for following the blog throughout the camp. Knowing that so many of you were reading along made the students much more open to letting me take pictures, and for that I am eternally grateful.
From all of us here at Ampleforth – Craig, Sonia, Paula and myself, we thank you once again for making this such a fantastic camp.
Have a wonderful rest of your summer, take care of yourselves, and hopefully we’ll see you all again one day.

Hola, amigos y familias,
