After a much needed Sunday off with the host families, we were rested and ready to tackle the English classes at the very center of Ireland.
But first… a walking tour!
Yvonne showed us around the town, telling us amazing secrets and stories hidden behind the most wonderful corners and landmarks here in Athlone. We took some pictures in front of some of the most iconic places; from Séan’s (Ireland’s oldest pub) to the very centerpoint of Ireland. Absolutely gorgeous town. We all loved it!
After a hearty walk we went back to the Marist College, the historical (to say the least) building where the Lakeland native teachers are teaching English to our students. But don’t get fooled by the setting… far long gone from boring static lessons, these English classes were fun, dynamic and absolutely lovely. Check the gallery and see for yourself!!
And, oh! we made new friends: the lovely ducks by the river! Cutest beings in Athlone. Check your children’s luggage when they get back home –they might’ve taken one…
SLÁN!
