Hello friends and families,

Welcome back!
It was another beautiful, gloriously chilly sort of day here at Ampleforth. Hearing about all the record-breaking temperatures across Europe definitely makes us appreciate having our own little kind of microclimate here. It’s actually pretty nice.

Today was another action-packed day. During English class, the students conceptualised and made some short films and, from the screen captures I’ve posted from some of their movies, they’re looking incredibly professional. The cinematography is genuinely impressive, and hopefully when the students get home they’ll be able to show you all the finished results and some great memories from the week. We’re also hoping to find some time to watch everyone’s films together before camp ends, perhaps with our own little film awards ceremony, but we’ll have to see if we can fit it in.

While one group was in class, the other took part in what can only be described as a game with one very simple objective: get as messy as possible. Safe to say they took that challenge very seriously. Afterwards, they spent some time planning our lip dub, which we’re all looking forward to filming later this week. As it happens, there’s quite a lot of filmmaking in the air around here at the moment. A real film is due to start shooting on the other side of the Ampleforth campus next week, so there must be something inspiring about this place.

The weather has been kind to us so far. It hasn’t rained much at all, although it’s been a little breezy most days. Even so, over the next few days we’re going to be getting wet one way or another, whatever the weather decides to do. We’ve got swimming sessions coming up, as well as a full day at the water park, so there’s still plenty of summer activities ahead of us. Tonight, by popular demand, we’re watching the Spain v Portugal match with some snacks. For those who aren’t quite as interested in football, we’ve got a film, some official Ampleforth College Monopoly and bracelet making instead. So, one way or another, hopefully everyone’s going to have a good evening tonight. As always, thank you so much for stopping by and reading the blog.

See you all tomorrow.

Hola, amigos y familias.
