In case you were wondering: no. The weather up here in Athlone is NOT cold and rainy like everyone expects when planning a trip to Ireland. It’s actually quite warm, very much like back home in Spain. We were running away from the summer heat and… it seems to be chasing us!
Despite the heated weather, today we put in some proper effort and learned a traditional Irish dance after classes, courtesy of Luan Dance Academy. By Jeeves it was exhausting! Not only physically demanding, but you had to be very precise and on beat. Incredible footwork and concentration required. However, it really paid off when we got to all dance together and laugh at each other’s mishaps on the dancefloor.
After butchering such a beautiful Irish tradition, some girls from Luan Academy gave us a proper performance and showed us how it’s actually done. We were flabbergasted! Then we even got a nice Certificate to show the world we are now official Irish dancers. Even tho we might leave the tap shoe Irish dancing for later, for… safety concerns.
Anyway, today was lovely and fun <3
