Hello friends and families,
Welcome one and all! We’re a little rushed off our feet today because we have our trip to Malton this afternoon, and we’re trying to fit in as much as possible beforehand, including classes and activities. Of course, though, that’s tomorrow’s news, so I’ll tell you all about Malton once we’ve actually been there. For now, let’s talk about Tuesday.
The clouds were definitely out yesterday. It wasn’t a cold day, but it was one of those grey, slightly miserable British days. Quite the opposite to today, where we’re expecting temperatures of around 29 degrees, which for the north of England is honestly quite spectacular. Even if it doesn’t quite compare to Spain’s temperatures at the moment (we’re all thinking of you all), hopefully you’re all relaxing somewhere in front of a fan right now. Yesterday was the day of our second swimming session. Just like on Friday, one group of students had a shorter class in the morning, while the other group took part in a shorter activity. The teachers have been giving absolutely fantastic feedback about the students in class, so we’re really happy with how much effort everyone is putting in. Hopefully, by now, everyone is becoming fully adapted to British life and feeling more and more at home here.
For lunch, we had a pulled pork burger, as well as a ham and cheese panini as an alternative option. For dinner, we had the UK’s national dish which (believe it or not) is chicken tikka masala. Indian culture and cuisine is probably the most important here in the UK, so it’s nice the kids got to taste a true and honest British curry at least once in their lives.
Finally, in the evening, it was time for one of our annual camp traditions: horror night. We watched The Others, the 2001 film starring Nicole Kidman and directed by Spanish director Alejandro Amenábar. It’s a very age-appropriate horror film. It’s basically just above a PG rating, but what it lacks in violence and gore, it more than makes up for with its creepy atmosphere. It’s not a film that is particularly horrifying, but it definitely manages to create a lot of scary tension and mystery. Judging by the applause at the end, it seems that at least the majority of the students really enjoyed it. It’s always really nice to have these little moments together as a big group. Everyone was gathered in the room with sofas, beanbags and blankets, just relaxing and enjoying spending time together. These are the kinds of moments that make summer camp so special, because before we know it we’ll be back home, sending messages and FaceTiming our friends in Girona and Manresa instead of seeing them every single moment of the day.
Today, as I mentioned, we’re heading to Malton, a beautiful local town here in North Yorkshire. I’ll let you know how it goes in tomorrow’s extra long blog post (to make up for this relatively short update).
Thank you so much, as always, for stopping by and reading.
See you tomorrow!

Hola, amigos y familias,
